Ahead of the Curve

The clouds are lifting and the hopeful colors of the rainbow may be a sign that we may soon be able to meet again and play our favorite sport of pickleball. The politicians, health experts and your personal decision will ultimately determine when you will feel confident in getting engaged on the pickleball courts. When the green light is given to all community centers, public parks, recreation centers and private clubs, there will be precautionary measures implemented to be vigilant in playing any outdoor or indoor sports. Our health experts and politicians have explained that the peak of the virus curve is now subsiding and our patience in adhering to social distancing has successfully flatten the virus curve. We suspect that a slow rollout of physical attendance at the workplace and the play grounds will begin to occur in the near future.
We are hopeful and planning for that eventuality by "staying ahead of the curve." NJPA pickleball programming will be in place to include a comprehensive safety procedure to ensure that all our members can participate and have confidence that our "NJPA Covid 19 Pickleball Safety Guidelines" meet a high standard.
Our former pickleball lives are filled with ritualistic touching: from hugs to high fives to paddle taps. These acts of interpersonal contact create feelings of connection between people—both literally and psychologically—but they also give pathogens an efficient way to move from person to person.
In this time of social distancing, what kinds of greetings should we use? Included in our "NJPA Covid 19 Pickleball Safety Guidelines"
Marc & I are looking foreward to meet with all of you again, hopefully sooner rather than later.
